The Staindrop solar step lights sit neatly in the corner of a stair tread, casting a soft wash of light across each step so they are easier and safer to use after dark. The triangular grey body is compact and low-profile, and a clear shade spreads light from two small LEDs evenly over the surface below. Each light measures around 10 × 11 × 7 cm, small enough to sit neatly on a standard step.

This listing is for a pair. Each light charges from its own solar panel, taking five to six hours of sun to power six to nine hours of light from an 800mAh battery. Choose warm white for a relaxed, cosy feel or white for crisper, brighter light. The IP65 body keeps out rain and snow, so they can stay in place all year round.

Fix them to garden steps, decking stairs, raised paths or the edges of a patio, either placed in position or secured for a permanent fit. There is no wiring to run, and they quietly switch themselves on each evening. Add further pairs to light a longer flight, and place them where they catch direct sunlight through the day. The grey finish blends in with stone, concrete and composite decking.
