The hardwired 12W model gives the brightest light and runs from your home's mains supply, while the solar 5W model charges by day and switches on at night for up to 10 hours, with no cabling required. Both use a universal E27 lamp holder, and each comes in two sizes to suit smaller paths or larger driveways and patios.

With an IP54 rating, the light is protected against dust and splashing water, so it copes well with year-round outdoor weather in courtyards, gardens, decks and terrace edges. The hardwired version is hardwired to regional mains standards, and installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician. The solar version needs a spot with good daylight to charge fully and give its longest run time each evening, so choose a sunny, open position away from tall trees.
