The Alnwick tree of life solar lanterns cast a detailed tree pattern across the ground and nearby walls, turning a plain patio or path into something far more atmospheric once the sun goes down. Each lantern is made from iron with a warm copper-coloured finish, and the set comes as a pair, so you can frame a doorway, line a step or dot them through a border.

A solar panel on top charges during the day, and the lanterns switch on with a simple push button to give a soft 3000K warm white glow at night. With an IP55 rating they are built to cope with showers and damp evenings, and there is no cable to run, so you can move them around the garden as often as you like. Each lantern stands a little under 20 cm tall, a handy size for tables and steps.

A sturdy handle on each lantern makes them easy to carry to the table for an evening meal or to hang from a branch, a pergola hook or a balcony rail. Choose the smaller size for tabletops and windowsills or the larger size for steps and lawn edges. To clean, switch off and wipe with a dry cloth. Place them where they catch direct sun for most of the day for the longest run time.
